Big Kid Studio Sessions – Magnuson Park – Seattle
Dear Parents of BIG Kids!
It’s time. You know and I know it.
I see your first and last day of school post popping up on facebook. I am always amazed by the changes just one short school year brings to our kids. Tragic if you ask my momma heart. But that’s just kind of where I am at with this whole growing up thing. It’s all one speeding freight train running away with my heart. Can someone please slow this locomotive down?
But so much has been learned, experienced, and gained. And it’s wonderful. It’s truly wonderful….If you ask me on the right day that is.
However, today is NOT that day. Today I feel like our kids are a year older and just a little more ready for the world then they were last September. (Screw you world. Not my kid. Back OFF. I mean it.)
With their big people teeth now firmly in places. The first day of school haircuts have grown in and out 15 times since your last pic was snapped. And don’t get me started on those freckles (cute, cute, cute) and the pants that are now high waters. It’s all too much. Change is happening and it’s happening fast.
I’m here to stand on my soap box for a moment and tell you it’s time to bring them in for a portrait session.
Please Bring Them Anyway
-I know they are MUCH to cool for such things – please bring them anyway.
-I know they ‘don’t wanna’ – please bring them anyway.
-I know they won’t wear what you want them to wear – please bring them anyway.
-I know you bought the school mug shot mid school year-apples and oranges friends- don’t get me started…not today- please bring them anyway.
-I know its going to take some serious bribery-please bring them anyway.
I am here to say…
PLEASE BRING THEM ANYWAY.
Kicking and screaming is fine.
And I totally won’t judge you for whatever you use as bribery. They tell me…they ALWAYS tell me!
My Little E
This is my BIG guy. Back in the Fall of 2016. The Beginning of 2nd grade. Check out that fresh haircut and new duds. Truth be told these clothes didn’t see a single day at actual school. Let’s get real. It was gym shorts/warm up pants and Star Wars/Seahawks t-shirts all year long.
Next week I will drag him into the studio for an updated portrait. This time I am not cutting his hair first. I may even let him wear what he wants to wear. I will be sure to share.
I can’t slow time but I will do my absolute best in freezing a few frames from this moment in time.
